Your feet really smell. Can't you vacuum this rug once in a while? And get my toys out from under the couch. Don't you know I can't reach them? Gah! Look at the dust bunnies! I can't believe you let this place go like this! And don't get me started on your decorating taste. It's like a nightmare in here and I can't even see in color. And that nail polish you're using makes me sneeze. Why can't you remember that I have a sensitive nose? That new candle stinks too. It's amazing I can even breath at all in here. I don't know why I put up with all of you. You have no consideration for me at all. I just feel so put upon and used. You have got to change my dog food because this kind gives me gas. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah.
It's always fun to chat with you, Ginger! You're so positive and upbeat!
William and Ginger, dogs extraordinaire, explore the wild and weird world of words with their psychotic owner.

Mutant
This is Cisco aka Squishy. Well, technically this is Squishy's butt. And tail. And...legs. I use that term loosely. Squish is a low-riding Corgi so he doesn't have real legs. He has hairy drumsticks. He is a mutant. A freak of nature. A deviation. A malformation. A miscreation. And he's cute as the dickens.

Niche
According to the dictionary this word is pronounced nich but I've always thought it should be neesh. It sounds so much more chic. Since this isn't a video blog I can pronounce it any darn way I want and it doesn't matter.
Anyway, I'm going to wax a bit philosophical today. Everyone needs to find their niche. Your particular role or place in life where you feel comfortable, like you fit. Trying to pound your square-peg self into a round hole just gives you a headache. So look around, find your true niche in life and embrace it! It may not be the slot that others area trying to cram you into.
This dog has embraced his niche in life. And he can accessorize like nobody's business. Love the shade of that scarf!

Woebegone
I just couldn't decide between woebegone and hangdog for this picture. Both perfectly describe poor coned Opal after her "fixing". Pathetic, doleful, despondent little dog had her lady bits yanked. I'm frankly shocked the vet was able to find them through all that fur.

Discombobulated
Okay, okay, I didn't take this picture. I got it off the internet. But it makes me laugh everytime I look at it and it's a perfect example of one of my favorite words. Discombobulated not only is fun to say, but it's a feeling I have on a regular basis. I get addled, befuddled, flustered and frustrated almost daily. Just this morning I was wondering why I am always buying sunglasses but can never find a pair to put on my face! How does that happen?! I think William is wearing them out in the yard to impress the little weiner dog next door.

Nympholepsy
Hey, get your mind out of the gutter! It's a frenzy of emotion, as for something unattainable. A spoiled kid begging her parent for a toy in the store and working herself into a full-out tantrum. In this case, it is Ginger wanting that treat, dangling just out of reach above her head. This dog loooooves her food. You can't really see it but she's drooling a bucketful and her toenails are tapping out a furious beat.
Just give it to her already! I don't want to mop the floor AGAIN!

Hobbledehoy
William is about two years old, more or less. He was adopted and doesn't remember his birthday. Anyway, in dog years that makes him about 14. An awkward, ungainly youth. A gawky teenage boy. So when this word popped up on my Word-A-Day app, I knew I had to use it. It IS William.
Here is he letting me know his water dish is empty by playing soccer with it. William is never without water for more than a couple of minutes, the annoying little hobbledehoy.

Argyle
Arrrrrrgyle. Doesn't it sound vaguely pirate-y? Argyle from the Fair Isle. The pattern itself is cute but saying the word is even better. Arrrrrg-yle.
I thought these argyle shorts would be stunning on Ginger. She has an argyle-patterned collar but I couldn't get a good shot of it, what with all her fur and neck skin covering it up. So I stole a pair of shorts for her to model. The owner of the shorts was quite upset.
