Kef

Meet Ozzie, cousin to William and Ginger. Oddly enough, he was NOT named after Ozzy Osbourne and has no affiliation with the rock star.

You may think that Ozzie is sleeping. Actually he is in a state of kef or drowsy contentment. Say the word "walk" and he's standing by the front door in two seconds flat.

Animalcule

Techically an animalcule is a minute or microscopic animal, but the word perfectly fits this teeny tiny canine. No bigger than a Coke can! Ginger could eat it in one gulp. And she would too, because Ginger will eat anything.

Bandersnatch

Geez! What a bandersnatch!

Next time your child is acting like an imaginary animal of fierce disposition or an uncouth menace, just call him a bandersnatch. Then watch him roll his eyes and say, "Mom, why do you have to be so WEIRD?"

Weltschmerz

It must be awful to be a pug. To know that at every moment of every day your face looks like you just ran full bore into the patio door. Or like a candle that's slowly dripping into an unregnizable mess. I guess you'd have to have a sense of weltschmerz, sorrow for the sad state of your existence but wearily accepting it.

Canorous

William and Ginger love this video.  They thought it nicely  fit the word of the day.   It means richly melodious, pleasant sounding, musical.  Well, maybe to dog ears.

Flibbertigibbet

This is Molly.  She is a small, very hyper beagle.  And here she is dressed up for Halloween as a bumblebee!  Can you say flibbertigibbet?  This word was invented for Molly!
